Every food business operator involved in the production, distribution, processing, conversion, preparation, preservation, transport, certification and packaging of food products must compulsorily obtain FSSAI Registration or License.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a 14 digit numeric registration number that is printed on all the food products under\u00a0 which individual or entity is dealing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-14651 size-full\" href=\"https:\/\/cleartax.in\/s\/fssai-registration#:~:text=FSSAI%20Registration%20is%20a%20basic,12%20lakh.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FSSAI\u00a0registration and the details<\/a> for the following are given below<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The food business operator shall get registered with Registration Form A, if the annual turnover of the business is less than 12 Lakhs.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The food business operator shall apply for State License Form B, if the annual turnover of the business is between 12 Lakhs and 20 crores<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The food business operator shall apply for Central License Form B, if the annual turnover of the business is above 20 crores.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 id=\"documents\"><b>Documents required for FSSAI Registration:<\/b><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><i partnership firm)<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"fa fa-arrow-right\" style=\"padding-right: 10px;\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/i>List of all food categories.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 id=\"validity\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Who issues the Food License?<\/b><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The FSSAI license is issued by the Food Safety and Standards Authority in India\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 under the State Government or Central Government. FSSAI new registration can also be applied online. The issue of a state or central food license depends on the scale of your business operations.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"fees\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Validity of Food License:<\/b><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The food license issued to the food business operator is valid for 1 year to 5 years. Government fees of the FSSAI registration vary as per the tenure of the FSSAI License.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"benefits\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Fees for applying food license:<\/b><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Basic application fees: Rs 100\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Central application fees: Rs 7500<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">State application fees: Rs 2000-3000<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Benefits of procuring FSSAI food license:<\/b><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">There are major two benefits for obtaining a food license such as legal benefits and \u00a0 business expansion and other benefits can be described as building goodwill, ensuring food safety, creating consumer awareness. FSSAI registration is mandatory whether it is a small business or large business. Other benefits includes:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">FSSAI license is crucial for exporting food products to other constituents.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Food licensing authority regulates the important aspects of hygiene and cleanliness.<\/span><\/li>\n<li id=\"procedure\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">FSSAI license or registration ensures food quality products that are as per the international food standards.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Annual Returns filed under FSSAI:<\/b><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Annual returns for a period extending from 1st April to 31st March of the consecutive year must be promptly filed before the 31st of May of that year.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Procedure for obtaining FSSAI Registration:<\/b><\/h3>\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"border: 1px solid #dddddd; padding: 8px;\">The first step would be submitting Form A application to the Food and Safety Department for obtaining FSSAI Registration.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr style=\"background-color: #dddddd;\">\n<td style=\"border: 1px solid #dddddd; padding: 8px;\">This application can be accepted or it may be rejected by the Department within 7 days from the date of receipt of an application and the rejection has to be intimated to the applicant in writing<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td id=\"consequences\" style=\"border: 1px solid #dddddd; padding: 8px;\">If the application is accepted by the department of the food business operator, then the department will grant a registration certificate which contains the registration number and photo of the applicant.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr style=\"background-color: #dddddd;\">\n<td style=\"border: 1px solid #dddddd; padding: 8px;\">FBO should prominently display the certificate of registration at the place of business during the business hours.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Consequences of Non-Compliance of FSS Act, 2006:<\/b><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Any food business operator who is registered under the FSSAI has to cohere to the rules and regulations under the FSS Act, 2006. On the basis of Checklist food safety officer conducts the inspection of food business operator\u2019s prerequisite and identifies the level of compliance. There are various categories of compliance under which food safety officers can put the food business operator. Details of Compliance level are as follows:<\/p>\n<ul id=\"renewal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Compliance<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Non-compliance<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Partial compliance<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Not applicable<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Renewal of FSSAI License:<\/b><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The License is issued for a validity period of 1 year or 5 year, so the food business operator must apply for renewal of license 30 days prior to the expiry of ongoing license. Food business operator can also apply online for the licenses.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">There are the five regional offices for the issue of licenses.
